The Dynamo Academy Under-19s, U-17s and U-15s teams spent this past weekend taking on Real Colorado and Colorado Rapids Academy at Houston Sports Park. The oldest boys came out victorious against Colorado Rapids Academy and the U-15 and U-12 teams shone this weekend, both leaving the weekend with a win and a tie.

The U-19s came out strong against Real Colorado this past Saturday. Though the Dynamo boys played well enough to earn a result, Real Colorado found a goal just before halftime and held on for a 1-0 win. On Sunday the tides changed for the U-19s, ending with a 4-2 victory against Colorado Rapids Academy. Forward Heriberto “Beto” Soto kicked off the scoring in the 20th minute, followed by midfielder Edrey Caceres in the 33rd, forward Jaden Servania in the 45th, and finally forward Daniel Ramirez in the 68th to put the Dynamo up 4-0. Colorado scored twice late, but the Dynamo held on to win comfortably.

Similar to their older counterparts, the U-17s felt they could have garnered a result against Real Colorado on Saturday, and went into halftime up a goal thanks to forward Kaya Ignacio, but saw the match end in a 2-1 defeat after a pair of second-half goals from the visitors. The 17s bounced back the next day with a goal in the 71st minute by forward Kaya Ignacia. Colorado Rapids Academy came back to tie it up in the 90th minute, leaving the Sunday game 1-1.

Playing a total of 24 players this weekend, the U-15s showed the depth of their team with a 4-1 win against Real Colorado and a 1-1 tie against the Rapids Academy. Three players from the U-14 side – Ricardo Garcia, Iyke Dafe and Zac Escobar-Bowie - played up this weekend. Garcia showed that he belonged, regardless of age, scoring the first goal in a 4-1 win over Real Colorado on Saturday. Luis Lugo bagged a brace and Antonio Rubio scored late in the victory. The Dynamo boys followed that up with a 1-1 draw against the Rapids Academy on Sunday, with Ronaldo Guzman finding the net for Houston.

At the younger levels, the U-11/13/14’s were off this weekend while the U-12 team played away at Rise SC. Their Saturday double header against Rise left them with a 1-0 win and 0-0 tie.

Next up for all of the Dynamo Academy U-19, U-17, U-15, U-14, U-13 and U-12 teams will be matches against the Dallas Texans this weekend at Arlington Heights High School. The U-11s will play Dynamo/Dash league games this weekend vs. Soccer Centro and North Channel La Union.
