With the opening of the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup just nine days away, Concacaf and BBVA Compass Stadium executives announced today that the Group C doubleheader on June 21 has sold out.

This makes BBVA Compass Stadium the second venue in the 2019 Gold Cup to sell out, along with Allianz Field in Minneapolis. The 2019 tournament will be the fourth edition to feature matches at BBVA Compass Stadium. Houston will also host a quarterfinal doubleheader at NRG Stadium on Saturday, June 29.

“We are extremely excited that this double header has sold out in advance,” said Stadium Executive Vice President and General Manager Juan Rodriguez. “We look forward to a fantastic event here at BBVA Compass Stadium on June 21, and it will be a great way to kick off a summer filled with soccer here in Houston, both here and at NRG Stadium.”

The doubleheader will feature the national teams of Honduras, El Salvador, Jamaica and Curaçao in the crucial second game of round-robin group play. El Salvador will face Jamaica at 6 p.m. CDT, followed by Honduras taking on Curaçao at 8:30 p.m.

Four Houston Dynamo stars, as well as one member of Rio Grande Valley FC, the club’s USL Championship hybrid affiliate, are expected to feature for the teams in Group C.

Honduras’ roster is headlined by three players of the Dynamo roster in star forwards Alberth Elis and Romell Quioto along with defender Maynor Figueroa. Dynamo midfielder Darwin Cerén is in line to represent El Salvador, while RGV FC forward Maalique Foster was named to Jamaica’s roster for the tournament.

The 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup is sponsored by Allstate Insurance Company, Camarena Tequila, Cerveza Modelo, Nike, Scotiabank, Toyota, and Valvoline. The tournament will be broadcast nationally on the Univision and FOX family of networks and transmitted on radio in Spanish by FĂştbol de Primera Radio Network, and broadcast by television partners in countries around the world.
