Mauro Manotas was named to the Team of the Week after helping the Dynamo claim its second road victory of the season, the league announced today.

Manotas was named to the Team of the Week bench after scoring and assisting as the Dynamo defeated Toronto FC 3-1 on Saturday. Manotas set up the eventual game-winning goal by midfielder Tomás Martinez after backheeling a cross towards Martinez and scored a spectacular solo goal after receiving the ball from midfield and dribbling through the Toronto defense.

This is Manotas’s third appearance on the Team of the Week, after being named on back-to-back Teams of the Week following a goal and an assist against Columbus Crew S.C. in Week 9 and a brace in a Texas Derby victory over FC Dallas in Week 10.

This season, seven Houston Dynamo players have been named to a Team of the Week. Defenders Matías Vera and Adam Lundkvist were the sixth and seventh Dynamo players, respectively, to be named to the Audi MLS Team of the Week after strong defensive appearances against the Portland Timbers and D.C. United in Week 12.

Forward Alberth Elis has been named to the Team of the Week three times this season, after a pair of performances in which he scored, created or assisted on seven combined goals in wins over Vancouver (Week 3) and Colorado (Week 5), as well as being named to the Team of the Week bench after scoring twice and providing an assist in a midweek victory over the New York Red Bulls (Week 18).

Martínez earned Team of the Week honors in Week 7, and forward Memo Rodriguez was named to the Team of the Week bench after his brace against the Vancouver Whitecaps in Week 3. Defender Kiki Struna was named to the Team of the Week after making his MLS debut in a 2-1 victory against the Montreal Impact in Week 2.
