Preview: Dash vs Sky Blue FC

After having a bye, week the Houston Dash are back in action at BBVA Stadium to face off against Sky Blue FC. Sky Blue is coming off of a 3-0 loss against Utah Royals FC. The last time out, the Dash were on the road and picked up a crucial three points in a 1-0 win over the Orlando Pride. This will be the final meeting between the Dash and Sky Blue for the 2019 season.


Here are three key points ahead of Saturday’s game: 


  1. DALY LOOKS TO STRIKE – Dash forward Rachel Daly has been the catalyst to Houston’s attack so far this season with five goals on the year. Daly has been particularly dangerous against Sky Blue, having scored five goals in nine games against them, which is tied for the most goals she has scored against any team.
  2. FOCUS ON PLAYOFFS – Houston is six points away from a playoff spot and are currently in the sixth spot of the standings. After the best start this season, earning 13 points in the first nine games, the Dash will look to earn a spot in the playoffs for the first time.
  3. TWO SWEEPS IN TWO SEASONS – The Dash swept Sky Blue in the 2018 season, scoring a total of 11 goals in the three matches played. This season, Houston won their first away game of the season against Carli Lloyd and Sky Blue on April 20 with a game-winning goal from Sofia Huerta.Most recently, Daly scored the game-winner to lift the Dash over Sky Blue at BBVA Stadium on July 28, giving them their second win against the Jersey team this season. Houston will look to complete their second consecutive sweep tomorrow evening to close out the season series.
