Houston Dash forward Veronica Latsko will compete with Sydney FC in Australia’s W-League during the NWSL offseason, Sydney FC announced late last night.

Latsko will join Dash midfielder Sofia Huerta to play in Sydney after missing most of the NWSL regular season due to a season-ending injury suffered on May 9. The forward enjoyed a successful debut in the Westfield W-League last season with Adelaide United alongside Houston teammate and defender Amber Brooks, finishing the 2018-19 season tied for second in the W-League on nine goals alongside Sydney FC’s own Caitlin Foord. Her goals represented more than half of Adelaide United’s total for last season and included two against Sydney FC in a 5-2 win at Cromer Park.

“I know many of the girls from last season and have spent the last NWSL season in the company of Sofia, who only has good things to say about the club and the culture within the squad,” Latsko said. “It will be a huge challenge to go back to back but I can’t wait to get started and get the season underway.”

Sydney FC capped of the 2018-19 year by winning the W-League championship in a 4-2 victory against NWSL Golden Boot winner Sam Kerr and the Perth Glory. Latsko will look to help Sydney repeat as champions in her second stint overseas.
