The Houston Dash have acquired goalkeeper Amanda Dennis to a one-year contract with an add, the club announced today.
Dennis joins Houston after finishing a four-year career at Penn State University, logging 202 career saves in 72 appearances. The San Diego, Calif. native finished her collegiate career with numerous accolades, including being named to the Big Ten All-Tournament Team and All-Academic Big Ten in both 2017 and 2018, as well as being selected to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team in 2016.
The 21-year-old left the Penn State program on a high note, finishing second nationally in goals against average with a .77 GAA. Dennis brings U.S. Youth National Team experience, having represented America from the U-14 onward. Dennis first trained with the U.S. U-20 women’s national team in 2014 and was a crucial part of the team until 2018.
Dennis joins a Houston side that finished the 2019 season with a 7-5-12 record under first-year head coach James Clarkson. The Dash expect to kick off their 2020 campaign in mid-April. The 2020 schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
With this transaction, the Dash now have 24 players on their active roster ahead of the 2020 NWSL season.
