As part of the SocioMX Tour, the Houston Dynamo will host LigaMX power, Cruz Azul on March 27, the two clubs and SMM Sports & Entertainment announced today.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. CT on Friday, March 27. Tickets for the match will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. CT, with individual prices starting at $25. Tickets will be available online at HoustonDynamo.com, by phone at 713-276-GOAL or at the BBVA Stadium box office.

This year’s contest also pits two former teammates against each other on the touchline. Robert Siboldi, the current manager for Cruz Azul, spent the 1995-2000 seasons with Tigres UANL as a goalkeeper, making 109 league appearances. Dynamo head coach, Tab Ramos, spent a year and a half on loan with Tigres during the 1994-1996 seasons, appearing in 35 games as a midfielder and scoring twice.

“We are very fortunate and look forward to hosting one of LigaMX’s giants in our stadium,” said coach Ramos. “It is certainly a treat for our fans and a great challenge for us as a team. I am also looking forward to seeing my friend and great coach, Robert Siboldi, leading such an important team.”

All Houston Dynamo 365 Members will automatically receive their tickets for the BBVA Classic match as part of their membership. Additionally, Dynamo 365 Members will have the opportunity to purchase additional tickets during an exclusive presale window beginning Monday, Feb. 10.

This will be the second meeting between the Dynamo and Cruz Azul, as the two sides previously met in 2017 at BBVA Stadium for a mid-year friendly. Cruz Azul defeated the Dynamo in a high-scoring and entertaining match that featured goals from Vicente Sánchez, Mauro Manotas and Dylan Remick for the home side.

A perennial power in their league, Cruz Azul have the fourth-most LigaMX championships with eight, and the club’s six continental titles make it the second-most successful club in the history of Concacaf Champions League. The Dynamo have been five-time participants in the Champions League. Along with their historic heritage, Cruz Azul brings numerous notable players to the pitch, including Mexican national team members Jesús Corona, Adrián Aldrete and Orbelín Peneda. All three players were influential in Cruz Azul claiming the League Cup last season, and bring CopaMX, Concacaf Champions League, Gold Cup, and Olympic experience to the table.
