Rachel Daly named to England Women’s National Team for 2020 SheBelieves Cup

Houston Dash forward Rachel Daly was named to the England Women’s National Team roster by head coach Phil Neville to play in the 2020 SheBelieves Cup, the Football Association announced earlier today. 


England, currently ranked fifth in the world by FIFA, will make their fifth appearance in the invitational after claiming the title in the 2019 SheBelieves Cup. Daly and the Lionesses went undefeated throughout the tournament, earning victories against Brazil and Japan, and tying against the U.S.


Up first, England will take on the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Champions, U.S. at 6:00 p.m. CDT on Thursday, March 5 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, FL.Three days later, the Lionesses will head North East to face Japan at 1:15 p.m. CDT on Sunday, March 8 at Red Bull Arena in New York, N.Y. Lastly, England and Spain are set to kickoff at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11 at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, TX.


Daly has scored three goals in 29 appearances for the Lionesses. The Harrogate, England native helped her country reach the semifinals of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup this summer in France, eventually finishing the tournament in fourth place. 

Last season with the Dash, Daly made 15 appearances, starting in every game she played.She scored five goals on the year, including three game-winners. Selected sixth overall by the Dash in the 2016 NWSL Draft, Daly ranks second in club history with 24 goals. She has appeared in 78 games with 74 starts in her first four seasons, seeing time at both forward and right back for the club.
