The Houston Dynamo Academy finished with one victory and two draws over the weekend against Austin FC to even the series after the first meeting earlier this season.

“It was great to hit the road and play these three matches versus Austin FC. Each game was very competitive, and we are happy to see our boys play with such strong personality and performance in our game model, which we look to make part of our Academy’s DNA,” Dynamo Academy director Paul Holocher said. “This includes attempting to dominate or control much of the possession with the ball, but also to play with the grit and purpose that is required to win each challenge.  We saw some really good individual and team performances this week.”

Joshua Jaimes sparked the game-winning goal for the U-13 squad after he found Salem Sharif for the second goal of the game. Gael Gonzalez also scored for the U-13 Dynamo side that earned the only victory of the weekend, a 2-1 triumph over the Verdes.

U-14 goalkeeper Angel Jaimes made critical interceptions through the game to earn a scoreless draw with Austin on Saturday.

The final game of the series finished in a scoreless draw as the U-15 side avoided a challenging start to the game. Austin FC missed a penalty kick in the third minute of the game and the match finished 0-0.

Every age group of the Academy returns to action this weekend to face Solar Soccer Club and Rio Grande Valley FC at Houston Sports Park. The U-13 and U-14 sides will face their counterparts from Dallas and the U-15 through U-19 sides will face RGV FC.
