Opening the playoffs on the road against rival FC Dallas, the Dynamo suffered a rare loss to Dallas on a play initiated by Adrian Serioux, a former Dynamo player. Serioux threw the ball into the penalty area from the sideline, and Dallas defender Clarence Goodson popped the loose ball into the net for the only goal of the game. The teams combined for 31 fouls, including 23 whistled against Dallas.
