The Force will be with the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, June 18 when they host DC United on Houston Dynamo Star Wars Night at BBVA Compass Stadium. Characters from the immensely popular Lucas Films movie franchise will be involved throughout the match, and fans are encouraged to come in their best Star Wars costumes and attire.

Show time is at 7:45 p.m. CDT, and a special Star Wars ticket package is available online at HoustonDynamo.com/StarWars which includes a ticket to the game and a limited edition Dynamo Star Wars scarf. Ticket packages start at $35 and are based on availability.

“It’s going to be a great night and something our fans will really enjoy,” said Dynamo vice president and chief marketing officer Amber Cox. “And as a club, we look for every little bit of home field advantage we can get. Channeling The Force will give our players that extra edge, and Owen has been working on his Jedi mind tricks for the referees.”

Tickets may also be purchased by phone at 713-276-GOAL or at the BBVA Compass Stadium box office. The match will be televised live on ROOT SPORTS, and it will be broadcast on radio by SportsRadio 610 AM and KLAT 1010 AM in English and Spanish, respectively.

Star Wars is arguably the most popular movie franchise in cinematic history, with more than $6 billion in total global box office revenue since “Episode IV: A New Hope” was released in 1977. The most recent release, “Episode VII: The Force Awakens,” grossed more than $2 billion worldwide when it came out in December.

The franchise has legions of devoted fans around the world, including several Dynamo players. Dynamo defender David Horst owns a Luke Skywalker costume complete with Yoda on his back, and he surprised several of his Dynamo coworkers by showing up unannounced in the front office.
