THE WIN:

TEAM NOTES:

  • The Dynamo scored first for the sixth time this season and the second game in a row. The Dynamo are 5-0-1 this season when scoring the game’s first goal.
  • The Dynamo led at halftime for the eighth time in 10 games. The team is 6-1-1 this season when leading at intermission.
  • With tonight’s result, the Dynamo have led for 463 of a possible 630 minutes at home this season.
  • The Dynamo kept their streak of scoring at least two goals in each home game alive when FW Erick Torres converted a penalty in the 68th minute.
  • The Dynamo took a lead of at least two goals for the seventh consecutive home game.
  • The 15th-minute goal scored by FW Alberth Elis was the team’s 20th of the season. It was also just the second scored by the Dynamo not using a player’s right foot. The only other non-right-footed goal scored by the Dynamo came in Week 2 vs. Columbus (March 11) by DF Dylan Remick.

  • Houston’s 20 crosses from the run of play were the most in a game this season, surpassing the previous high of 18 against Minnesota United FC on April 15.
  • The Dynamo lost the possession statistic for the eighth time in 10 games this season. Houston is 6-2-0 when their opponent has more possession than them this season.
  • Houston’s 265 passes attempted were a season low. The previous low was 295 pass attempts in a 4-1 victory over New York Red Bulls on April 1.
  • The Dynamo completed 69.1 percent of their pass attempts in the game, snapping a streak of five consecutive games with a completion percentage of greater than 70 percent.
  • Vancouver’s 85th-minute goal snapped a streak of 296 consecutive minutes played without conceding a goal at BBVA Compass Stadium for the Dynamo. The last goal the Dynamo back line allowed came in the 59th minute vs. Minnesota United FC on April 15.
  • The Dynamo used their 10th different starting lineup in 10 games thus far this season.


INDIVIDUAL PLAYER NOTES

  • MF Alex made his 48th start overall for the Dynamo and the 96th of his MLS career. If he continues to start every game, Alex would start his 100th career game on May 31 at home vs. Real Salt Lake.
  • Alex and DF Adolfo Machado remain the only Dynamo players who have started every game this season.
  • Alex led the team with four chances created in the game, giving him 21 on the season through 10 games.
  • Alex’s 59 total touches were the most on the team as well.
  • DF DaMarcus Beasley made his 157th career start and 69th as a Dynamo tonight.
  • MF Juan David Cabezas made his fifth start with the Dynamo and his fourth in a row tonight.
  • Cabezas led the team with four tackles in the game and was one of two players, along with FW Mauro Manotas, to complete more than 80 percent of his pass attempts.
  • MF Ricardo Clark returned to the Starting XI for the first time since April 15 vs. Minnesota United FC, snapping a span of three straight games without a start.
  • Clark made his 298th career regular-season start and his 267th with the Dynamo.
  • DF A.J. DeLaGarza made his 203rd career start in tonight’s game.
  • FW Alberth Elis extended his home scoring streak to four consecutive games with a goal in the 15th minute. He scored on a header off of a cross from FW Romell Quioto.
  • Elis made his ninth start of the season and his sixth in a row tonight. Elis has played in all 10 games this season.
  • Elis was substituted off in the 31st minute with a right leg strain, giving way to FW Erick Torres.
  • DF Leonardo made his fourth consecutive start, his seventh with the Dynamo and the 87th of his career tonight. He made his 92nd career appearance in MLS regular-season play.
  • DF Adolfo Machado received a yellow card in the 21st minute for a professional foul on Vancouver FW Fredy Montero. It was his second caution of the season.
  • Machado played all 90 minutes in the game, raising his season total to 900. He is the only player on the team who has been on the field for every minute of the season thus far.
  • Machado started his 10th consecutive game. He and MF Alex remained the only two players to have started every game this season.
  • FW Mauro Manotas made his fifth start of the season, his second of the year in the center forward position, and the 15th of his career tonight.
  • Manotas drew a penalty in the 67th minute when he was bundled over in the penalty area by Vancouver DF Kendall Waston. It was the second week in a row that Manotas drew a foul that led to a penalty kick.
  • Manotas tied for the team lead with four shots in the game and completed a team-leading 88.2 percent of his pass attempts.
  • Manotas received a yellow card in the 61st minute for time wasting. It was the first card that the 21-year-old Colombian has received in his three-year MLS career.
  • FW Romell Quioto registered his second assist of the season, and second in as many games, when his cross set up FW Alberth Elis’ goal in the 15th minute.
  • Quioto made his second consecutive start and his fifth of the year. He did not score in the game, snapping a streak of four consecutive starts with a goal. However, his assist in the first half kept alive a streak of contributing to at least one goal in every start this year.
  • MF Memo Rodriguez made his home debut when he came on as a substitute in the 81st minute for FW Mauro Manotas. It was the second career appearance for the Dynamo Academy alumnus.
  • FW Erick Torres scored his league-leading eighth goal of the season when he converted a penalty kick in the 67th minute. His eight goals on the season are the second-most in his career, behind a 15-goal season in 2013.
  • The goal was Torres’ third game-winning goal of the season.
  • The goal was Torres’ fourth from a penalty kick this season, which is the most in a single season in Dynamo history. Brad Davis had three penalty kick goals in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
  • Torres’ goal was the 30th of his MLS career and his 23rd in 38 games under head coach Wilmer Cabrera.
  • Torres returned to the 18-man matchday roster after missing last Saturday’s game vs. Orlando City SC (May 6) due to a concussion and came on as a substitute in the 31st minute for FW Alberth Elis. It was Torres’ first appearance off the bench this season after starting the first eight games.
  • FW Andrew Wenger made his seventh appearance of the season, and sixth as a substitute, when he came on for FW Romell Quioto in the 56th minute.
  • GK Joe Willis picked up his 15th career win as a starter and his ninth with the Dynamo.
  • Willis made two saves in the game, giving him 12 on the year.
  • Willis made his 54th career start and his fifth in a row this season. Willis started 24 games a year ago for the Dynamo.
