Houston Dash to open 2015 season on April 10 at BBVA Compass Stadium vs. Washington Spirit

The Houston Dash will open the 2015 NWSL season on Friday, April 10 at BBVA Compass Stadium against the Washington Spirit. The full 20-game schedule for the Dash will be announced by the league at a later date.


The 2015 home opener against the Spirit will kick off at 7 p.m. CT. Washington (10-9-5; 35 points) finished fourth in the league standings for the 2014 regular season, but fell in theplayoff semifinals to eventual NWSL Cup champions Seattle Reign FC.


The 2015 season will be the second in the history of the Dash and third for the NWSL as a whole. After a toughinaugural season, head coach Randy Waldrum and managing director Brian Ching have made a flurry of moves during the offseason to improve the club. The Dash added U.S. women’s national team star midfielder Carli Lloyd as well as Brazil women’s national team midfielder Rosana and defender Poliana. The club also holds the No. 1 overall pick in Friday’s NWSL College Draft.


Washington features 2014’s top pick in the college draft, USWNT defender Crystal Dunn (3 assists in 21 games in 2014) and Canadian international midfielder Diana Matheson (8 goals, 6 assists in 2014). The Spirit’s roster also includes U.S. international goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris and defender Ali Krieger, as well as Mexican international and former Dash defender Arianna Romero.


The Dash will also face Sky Blue FC at Yurcak Field in Piscataway, New Jersey on Saturday, April 18 and the Boston Breakers at Harvard University in Boston on Sunday, April 26 in those teams’ respective home openers.
