We caught up with Andressa before she left for Rio and learned that a team karaoke night is a must, as soon as she comes back!

Who is your hero?

My parents, my mom has a strong character and I really admire that about her. My dad introduced me to the sport so I have looked up to him both as a person and as a player. My first coach, Marcos, was also a big influence on me and he helped me break into the Brazilian National Team.

What’s the toughest part about being a professional athlete?

The first thing that comes to mind is leaving your home, your country and playing abroad. You just don’t know what to expect. Then you have the language barrier, but you can overcome that. You miss family events and other moments because you’re on the road so that’s very tough. I also have a dog in Brazil so I miss my Chihuahua throughout the season.

Do you collect anything or is there something you take with you on the road?

I collect medals, I’ve lost count of how many I've won but I want more.

What would you sing at karaoke?

I need to think about this. I’m not familiar with karaoke.

If you could only eat one meal the rest of your life what would it be?

A typical Brazilian dish with rice, beans and steak.

What is one place in the world you would like to visit?

I’d like to return to the Caribbean. I played in a U-20 World Cup in Trinidad and that was a great adventure.

What is your favorite soccer movie?

I don’t have a favorite soccer movie but when I watch the sport on TV I like to watch Iniesta. From an early age, I’ve been a fan of how he plays the game. As far as movies, I’m a big fan of Adam Sandler movies.

Who would you want to play you in a movie about your life?

I don’t know, maybe I should ask Poli or Cari.

What is on your bucket list?

I want to be successful here with the Dash and looking forward I want to coach.
