Major League Soccer announced the 2017 league schedule on Thursday, including the Houston Dynamo’s 34-match slate for their 12th season and sixth at BBVA Compass Stadium.

The 2017 Houston Dynamo season, presented by 76®, opens on Saturday, March 4 at 7:30 p.m. CST at BBVA Compass Stadium against the defending MLS Cup champion Seattle Sounders FC, followed immediately by a home date with Columbus Crew SC on Saturday, March 11. Houston will close the 2017 regular season at home as well, hosting the Chicago Fire on Decision Day, Sunday, October 22 at 3 p.m. CT.

Seven of Houston’s first 10 matches will be played in front of the home crowd, along with five of the final eight matches of the season. The Dynamo will only host five MLS matches during the months of June, July and August. Conversely, Houston will play 11 of its 17 away matches from mid-May through Labor Day, a span of 16 weeks.

The 17-match home schedule includes 11 Saturday dates, two Friday night matches, one Sunday and three mid-week matches on Wednesday nights. Only two Dynamo home matches – April 22 vs. San Jose and October 22 vs. Chicago – kick off earlier than 7:30 p.m. CT, and every home game in June, July and August kicks off at 8 p.m. CT.

For the first time since 2012, the Dynamo are not scheduled to have any home matches that conflict with the Houston Astros home schedule, which means more convenient arrivals due to less traffic in the area, significantly more parking options and easier entry to BBVA Compass Stadium.

Dynamo 2017 Season Ticket Memberships are available starting at $310 and include tickets to every Dynamo regular season home game, along with tickets to the annual BBVA Compass Dynamo Charities Cup, exclusive presale opportunities for international friendlies and concerts at BBVA Compass Stadium, and access to Members-only events such as pregame chalk talks with Dynamo coaches and the annual Meet the Team Day.

Tickets for the opening match start at $20 and are on sale now, and individual match tickets for the remaining home matches as well as partial season ticket plans will go on sale in the coming weeks. Fans can secure their seats online at HoustonDynamo.com, by phone at 713-276-GOAL and at the BBVA Compass Stadium box office.

The Dynamo are scheduled to play six nationally-televised matches in 2017, including all editions of the Texas Derby rivalry series with FC Dallas. Five of Houston’s six national TV matchups will be featured on UniMás, including back-to-back matches on Saturday, June 17 at the LA Galaxy and Friday, June 23 at home against Dallas. The Texas Derby will be featured on FOX Sports 1 on Sunday, May 28 – Memorial Day Weekend – in Frisco.

The full broadcast and promotional schedules for the Dynamo will be released in the coming days.

With the introduction of two new teams, one in each conference, the Major League Soccer schedule went through some adjustments for 2017. Teams will continue to play an unbalanced schedule, with the Dynamo set to play each of the 11 Eastern Conference team once, seven Western Conference opponents twice, and three Western Conference foes – FC Dallas, Minnesota United and San Jose – three times apiece.

MLS will take a nine-day break in July (July 7-16) for the opening round of the CONCACAF Gold Cup. BBVA Compass Stadium will host an opening-round double header on Tuesday, July 11 featuring Group A, which will be headlined by Costa Rica. The draw for the remaining places in each of the three groups will take place later this spring. Other than Gold Cup elimination rounds, none of the Dynamo’s regular-season matches this season coincide with FIFA-sanctioned competition dates.

As the club heads into the first season under the leadership of new head coach Wilmer Cabrera, the Dynamo have overhauled their roster in recent weeks with the addition of six new players, including five international players. Honduran forwards Alberth Elis and Romell Quioto, Colombian midfielder Juan David Cabezas and Brazilian defender Leonardo and Panamanian defender Adolfo Machado join Chicago-native defender Dylan Remick as new faces in Orange this season.
