Interim head coach Omar Morales will make his debut on the Dash sideline this weekend as Houston travels to Maryland to face the Washington Spirit at 6 p.m. CT on Saturday at the Maryland SoccerPlex.

The Dash fell to Seattle Reign FC last weekend as Houston dropped their second home game of the season. Despite losing the match 2-0, Houston tested Seattle goalkeeper, Haley Kopmeyer, with nine shots on goal and compiled 26 shots throughout the game. Houston will look for its second road victory of the season and its first victory since these two clubs last met on April 29.

The Dash hold a 2-6-1 overall record against the Spirit. The Spirit swept the series last season with a 1-0 victory at the Maryland SoccerPlex and a 2-1 victory in Houston.

The Spirit enter the match with a three-game losing streak, conceding 10 goals in their last three games. The Spirit added USWNT forward Mallory Pugh last month and the 19-year-old has appeared in two games since turning professional. Washington is led by Canadian international Shelina Zadorsky and features her teammate from the Canadian Women’s National Team Stephanie Labbé and Nigerian international Francisca Ordega.

After the match, six Dash players will travel for international matches throughout North America and Europe. The entire roster, including the two-time FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year, Carli Lloyd, is expected to return to BBVA Compass Stadium on June 17 as Houston hosts Marta and the Orlando Pride.
