As the 2018 season starts, the Dynamo are giving fans an exciting chance to win an all-expenses-paid trip to see one of their favorite clubs from around the world play in person through the Fútbol Flyaway promotion. The winner will get to choose any international club that they want to see and will get a trip for two including airfare, hotel, and game tickets.
Paula Ikner won a Fútbol Flyaway in 2016 and enjoyed a four-day trip to London to watch Arsenal F.C. She took her teenage son, who chose the destination to see his favorite English team. One of her son’s best friends and high school teammates joined the Ikners on their trip, making the experience even more memorable.
Paula received a call from Dynamo legend Brian Ching to learn she was the lucky Fútbol Flyaway winner. “I was actually in shock. I couldn’t believe I was talking to Brian Ching himself on the phone,” she said, laughing at the memory. “When he called, I was probably more excited to be talking to him than about the trip itself! It didn’t really sink in that I’d won until we were actually making our trip reservation.”
While in London, the Ikners were able to explore and see much of the historic city, but Paula said that the best part of the trip was the game itself.
“Experiencing European soccer amongst the crowd is much different than watching it on TV,” she said. “Despite the cold weather, the open stadium was amazing and the atmosphere was great. It was really fun!”
Ikner said she would choose to go watch the Dynamo against the Chicago Fire or Seattle Sounders if she were the lucky winner again. Her favorite part of a game day at BBVA Compass Stadium is the atmosphere. “It’s just hard not to be a fan,” she said.
Now through April 2, fans can enter by purchasing a Dynamo season ticket membership, renewing their existing membership, or referring a friend who becomes a season ticket member. Current Dynamo Season Ticket Members who have already purchased or renewed their seats for 2018 are automatically entered.
