El Salvador to face Honduras at BBVA Compass Stadium on June 2

The national teams of El Salvador and Honduras will square off in El Clasico Centroamericano on Saturday, June 2 at 7:00 p.m. CDT at at BBVA Compass Stadium, stadium officials announced today. The match will be presented by Planet FĂştbol.


“This is an amazing opportunity for our soccer enthusiast to have two world-class teams at BBVA Compass Stadium,” said BBVA Compass Stadium General Manager Juan Rodriguez. “The two fan bases of these teams are two large parts of the diversity of the Houston community, and we are very excited at the anticipated turnout.”


Tickets for the match will go on sale Tuesday, April 3 at 10:00 a.m. CDT, with prices starting at $30. Dynamo and Dash members will have an exclusive pre-sale starting on Friday, March 30. Tickets may be purchased online at BBVACompassStadium.com, by phone at 1 (888) 929-7849, or in person at the BBVA Compass Stadium Box Office, which is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CDT. 


This will be the second time for these long-time rivals to face off in Houston. In 2011, Los Cuscaltecos and Los Catrachos played at Robertson Stadium as both teams prepared for the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The game ended with a 2-2 draw, with Carlos Costly and Jerry Bengston scoring for Honduras while Rodolfo Zelaya and Rudi Corrales finding the net for El Salvador.


This game not only promises to be a good show on the field, but also in the stands. Due to the large following that both teams have in Houston and the passion of both fan bases, there is no doubt that the fans will be treated to an entertaining experience.
