Houston Dynamo midfielder Darwin Cerén was named to El Salvador’s National Team for two Concacaf Nations League matches, the Federacion Salvadoreña de Futbol announced yesterday.
La Selecta return to Concacaf Nations League play on Saturday, Sept. 7 as El Salvador hosts Saint Lucia at Cuscatlan. Three days later Cerén and El Salvador travel to the Dominican Republic in League B group play.
Cerén has earned 53 caps with La Selecta and this is his first callup since he joined El Salvador for the 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup. Ceren saw action in three games with El Salvador at the tournament as the team finished with a 1-1-1 record in group play.
The midfielder has appeared in 10 games for Houston this season and earned his 100th league appearance in Houston’s 2-1 victory over the Montreal Impact on March 9.
