Update on Dynamo Broadcast Signal

082120 BBVA Stadium HOU v DAL

Last weekend’s Houston Dynamo re-opener against FC Dallas marked the team’s first match at BBVA Stadium in 174 days. Because it was played behind closed doors due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Dynamo fans tuned in to various television providers for their first glimpse of the team on its home ground. Unfortunately, for some fans the image wasn’t quite as clear as they’d expected.

“We know that some Houston Dynamo fans experienced challenges with image resolution for last Friday’s Dynamo match, and we are extremely disappointed by that. We want to assure all of our fans that we, and our new partners at TEGNA, delivered a high-definition signal to every cable provider,” said Dynamo and Dash president John Walker. “A key part of our Club’s mission is to deliver championship-level experiences, and unfortunately that wasn’t the case for all of our fans on Friday. We are proud to partner with a world-class broadcast organization like TEGNA, and together we will not stop working until we make sure that all of our fans can see their Dynamo matches in crystal-clear HD.”

Dynamo fans throughout the Houston area can watch tonight’s match at Sporting Kansas City in HD on DIRECTV (Ch. 55) and DISH Network (Ch. 55 or Ch. 6403), as well as over the air with a digital antenna on Ch. 55.1 and Ch. 11.4.

“The Houston Dynamo broadcast team puts together a great HD presentation and we are proud to share their games on QuestTEXAS, Channel 55. That HD presentation is available over the air with an antenna, on DIRECTV and on DISH,” said KHOU and KTBU President and General Manager Robert Springer. “We are working with the technology teams at U-VERSE and XFINITY to upgrade their signal to HD in the very near future.”

As the Club and TEGNA continue to work with providers to deliver a high definition feed, another challenge has been getting the match to appear on the respective channel guides. The Dynamo and TEGNA provided the team’s match schedule to distributors as soon as it was announced by Major League Soccer on Aug. 8, but some have been quicker than others in updating their information.
